Dear colleague, I am writing to inform you about the hospital course of your patient,
a 56-year-old male, admitted on 20/03/2023 via emergency department presenting with
acute chest pain, diaphoresis and dyspnoea. Initial ECG showed no ST-elevation. Serial
troponin measurements confirmed elevated cardiac biomarkers consistent with Non-ST-Elevation
Myocardial Infarction (NSTEMI). Echocardiography revealed mild left ventricular dysfunction.
The patient was commenced on dual antiplatelet therapy, anticoagulation, beta-blocker
and statin. Urgent coronary angiography demonstrated a significant stenosis of the
left anterior descending artery, which was successfully treated by percutaneous coronary
intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stent implantation. Post-procedural course was
uneventful. The patient was discharged on 21/03/2023 in stable condition on aspirin,
ticagrelor, bisoprolol, ramipril and atorvastatin. Cardiology outpatient follow-up
has been arranged. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require further
information.
