Ectopic tubal pregnancy, surgically treated

Hospital course note

Dear colleague, I am writing to inform you about the hospital course of your patient, a 40-year-old female, admitted on 02.12.2021 with acute lower abdominal pain and a positive pregnancy test. Clinical examination, transvaginal ultrasound, and serial serum beta-hCG measurements confirmed a right-sided tubal ectopic pregnancy without signs of rupture on admission. Due to the clinical findings and patient's hemodynamic stability, she was counselled and consented for surgical management. She underwent laparoscopic right salpingectomy on 02.12.2021 without intraoperative complications. Postoperative recovery was uneventful, and she was discharged home on 04.12.2021 in good general condition. Histopathology specimens have been submitted. Please ensure follow-up of beta-hCG levels until negativity and provide appropriate psychological support regarding future fertility counselling.
