Synthesis

Malignant neoplasm of colon, treated

Hospital course note

Dear colleague, I am writing to inform you regarding our mutual patient, a 64-year-old female, admitted on 04/08/2023 for investigation and management of a malignant neoplasm of the colon. Following admission, diagnostic workup included colonoscopy with biopsy, CT staging of chest, abdomen and pelvis, and laboratory investigations including tumour markers. Histopathological analysis confirmed colorectal adenocarcinoma. Staging indicated localised disease suitable for surgical resection. The patient underwent elective hemicolectomy without significant intraoperative complications. Postoperative recovery was satisfactory, with adequate pain management and early mobilisation achieved. The patient was discharged home on 05/08/2023 in stable condition. Oncology follow-up has been arranged, and we recommend continued monitoring of bowel function, wound care, and routine blood tests. Please do not hesitate to contact us should further information be required.
