MCL repair performed, post-operative recovery uneventful
Hospital course note
Dear colleague, I am writing to inform you regarding your patient, an 18-year-old
male admitted on 29/03/2017 following a knee injury. Clinical examination revealed
medial instability of the right knee. MRI confirmed a complete tear of the medial
collateral ligament (MCL). Following orthopaedic assessment, the patient underwent
surgical MCL repair on 30/03/2017 under general anaesthesia. The procedure was uncomplicated,
and post-operative recovery was uneventful. Post-operative physiotherapy instructions
and a hinged knee brace have been provided. The patient was discharged on 31/03/2017
with analgesia and instructions for gradual weight-bearing mobilisation. Follow-up
in our orthopaedic outpatient clinic is scheduled in two weeks. Please monitor wound
healing and ensure adherence to the rehabilitation programme. Should you have any
