Patellar tendon repair performed, post-operative recovery uneventful

Hospital course note

Dear colleague, I am writing to inform you regarding your patient, a 25-year-old male admitted on 04/01/2018 following acute rupture of the right patellar tendon, sustained during a sporting activity. Clinical examination revealed inability to extend the knee, with a palpable gap inferior to the patella. Diagnosis was confirmed via ultrasound and MRI imaging, demonstrating complete patellar tendon rupture. The patient underwent successful surgical repair of the patellar tendon under spinal anaesthesia on 06/01/2018. Post-operative recovery was uneventful. Physiotherapy was initiated prior to discharge. He was discharged on 17/01/2018 with a knee immobiliser, analgesia, and outpatient physiotherapy referral. Please arrange follow-up at six weeks. Should you have any queries, do not hesitate to contact our department.
