Dear colleague, I am writing to inform you about the hospital course of your patient,
an 81-year-old male, admitted on 22/06/2021 due to severe aortic valve stenosis. Upon
admission, echocardiography confirmed critical aortic stenosis with significantly
reduced valve area and elevated mean pressure gradient. Cardiac catheterization was
performed to assess coronary artery status prior to intervention. Following multidisciplinary
heart team discussion, given the patient's age and surgical risk profile, the decision
was made to proceed with transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), which was
performed successfully on 23/06/2021 without periprocedural complications. Post-procedural
echocardiography demonstrated excellent prosthetic valve function with normalised
gradients. The patient recovered well and was discharged in stable condition. Please
continue antiplatelet therapy and arrange follow-up echocardiography in three months.
Do not hesitate to contact me should you require further information.
